Montenegro

MONTENEGRO / Црна Гора / Crna Gora

Montenegro is a Balkan country. The country was a member of the former Yugoslavia. In 2006, it declared independence from their union with Serbia. The state has a population of about 650,000 now. The official language is Montenegrin, although minority languages are also recognized. It has the largest border length with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Interestingly, although it is not a member of the European Union, the official currency is the euro. The capital is Podgorica. Although there is a population in the country that promotes pro-Russian ideas, the official policy of the state is to enter the European Union. In 2017, Montenegro joined the NATO Alliance. In 2019, protests of the Serb population  prevailed in the country. It’s about a misunderstanding related to the Serbian Orthodox Church in the territory of Montenegro.
In Mili Dueli, Montenegrin authors have seen an upward trend in the number of entries. Otherwise, it is a country that has been involved in the Contest from the very beginning. Mili Dueli’s goal is to alleviate national intolerance through the play of poetry. Today, the literary criticism of Montenegrin poet Anđela Turukalo plays an indispensable role during the contest. The same author was the winner of the Mili Dueli 2014.
