Kosovo

KOSOVO / Косово и Метохија / Kosovë / Kosovo

Kosovo is a former autonomous province of Yugoslavia. In 2008, it declared its independence from Serbia. The official languages are Albanian and Serbian. Pristina is the capital city. About 1.8 million people live in Kosovo. There are currently major disputes between Pristina-Belgrade over Kosovo’s independence. By March 2020, the independence of Kosovo was recognized by 112 UN nations. Otherwise, 15 states withdrew their recognition. The vast majority of the population today is Albanian. Serbs, as a minority, do not recognize Pristina authorities. Of the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Kosovo has been recognized as a country: Croatia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Slovenia. All countries did it in 2008. In Bosnia and Herzegovina (the seat of Mili Dueli), since 2012, passports of the Republic of Kosovo have been recognized as a valid travel document for entry into the country. This confirms the recognition of citizenship. Negotiations are currently underway in Brussels between the EU, Kosovo and Serbia, seeking to resolve the dispute to mutual satisfaction.

To potvrđuje priznanje državljanstva.
