Drago dijete moje budućnosti,
nestrpljiva sam da te upoznam:
da ti pričam o mjestima iz kojih ćeš se roditi,
o duhovima koji će prebivati u tvojim venama,
o istoriji koju ćeš nositi u svom biću,
o pričama koje počivaće ti na dlanovima,
koje će teći kroz tvoje prste
i preplitati se sa budućnošću koju ćeš stvarati.
Oblikuj, piši i stvaraj onime što ti ostavljamo.

Drago dijete moje budućnosti:
mnogi jesu i pokušaće ti pričati o ovom kraju,
o mjestima iz kojih ćeš se roditi
i, kada to činimo,
nemoj zaboraviti slušati ono što već jeste u tebi.

Kada ti pričamo o bubnjevima
koji su nam budili duše iz poraženih snova
i vodili nas u mnoge vrste bitaka,
nemoj zaboraviti srčani ritam svog pradjeda:
stalni podsjetnik na zvuk njegovih koraka na tabanima tvojih stopala
koja odmaraju i još uvijek kucaju tamo, tako da nikada nećeš poći u bitku sam.

Kada ti pričamo o zori civilizacije, bibliotekama, piramidama
i Velikom Kraljevstvu Kush:
nemoj zaboraviti da nisu bili potrebni ni kruna ni institucije
da tvoji hvalospjevi postanu knjiga istorije,
da zvijezde postanu karte i proroci;
da tvoja baka nahrani čitavu zajednicu
iz onoga što se činilo samo sjemenom, pričom i molitvom
sve dok njena veličina i malo pomoći odozgo nisu to pretvorili u život.
Kada ti govore o zemljama trećeg svijeta,
nemoj zaboraviti ko je prvi govorio o beskrajnim svjetovima:
ko je znao iz sna, lastavica, suše, pjesme kitova, koze ili pčele
da samo jedan svijet, jedna stvarnost nikada ne bi mogla obuhvatiti prostranstvo ovog života
i sve svjetove koji žive i dišu izvan toga.

Dijete moje budućnosti,
mnogi će pokušati pričati ti o ovom kraju,
o mjestima iz kojih ćeš se roditi
i, kada to činimo,
nemoj zaboraviti slušati ono što već jeste u tebi.
Slušaj pjesme koje odzvanjaju noću,
dok vode duše sigurno prema rodnom kraju, ali nas drže među živima
prije nego što nas zažudjela tuga tamo otprati.
Slušaj glasove tih tetki koje govore i smiju se najglasnije
kako bi se postarale da znaš da su još uvijek ovdje!
Sjećaćeš se njih dugo nakon što odu.

Ako ikada ugrizeš jezik i osjetiš metal u krvi,
sjeti se zveckanja limenki na ulici koje još uvijek tamo prebivaju,
zvuka djece dok stvaraju ritmove iz dosade
igrajući se dok riječ prestane postojati za njih.
Sjeti se gipkih jezika svog naroda
koji su uspjeli uzeti strane i tuđe riječi donesene na brodovima;
ukrasiti ih fonetikom, značenjima i tonom koji su podsjećali na dom
da bi te riječi pretvorili u jezik sopstvenog naroda.
Slušaj kada putuješ ovim kontinentom i pronađeš tragove svog maternjeg jezika
rasute u neočekivanim ustima, grlu i stiscima ruku,
domaćinima sa licima poput tvog oca, sestre, strica, komšije.

Sjeti se svega toga i mnogo čega još
što se ne može uklopiti samo u jednu pjesmu.

Drago dijete moje budućnosti,
nestrpljiva sam da te upoznam:
da ti pričam o Africi iz koje ćeš se roditi,
o duhovima koji će prebivati u tvojim venama,

Carve, write and mould with what we have left for you.

Dear child of my future
Many have and will try to tell you about this land
To tell you about the places you will be born from
And when we do
Do not forget to also listen to what already is in you

When we tell you about the drums
that awakened our souls from defeated slumbers
And led us into many a kind of battle
Do not forget your great-grandfather’s heartbeat,
a constant reminder of the sound of his footsteps on the soles of your feet
Resting and still beating there, so you may never walk into battle alone

When we tell you about the dawn of civilization, libraries, pyramids
and the Great Kingdom of Kush
Do not forget there were no crowns or institutions necessary

Decorate them with phonics, meanings and a tone that felt like home
To turn those words into a language of their very own
Listen when you travel through this continent and find traces of your mother tongue
Scattered in unexpected mouths, throats and handshakes
Home to people with faces like your father, your sister, your uncle, his neighbour.

Remember all this and so much more
That I alone cannot fit into just one poem

I took my first steps on stage while my mother was performing and the family joke is that this must have been the prophetic moment that the arts would always call to me. I continue to feel like I’m taking my first steps as I embrace the interdisciplinary spaces that allow me to merge my theatre background with performance poetry, the written word and storytelling as I also am invited into spaces to collaborate with dancers and filmmakers. It is a joy to expand in these ways while also holding on to the legacies my culture and artistic family have passed down to me. As a child of two countries, South Africa and Germany, the ocean is my place of joy and breath – it connects me to both my lands as an in between space that allows me to feel at home and pant my roots in the water.

The inequalities that we have inherited from our past have for a large part been swept under the carpet and the result is anger that has finally boiled over in many of our people. The exhaustion and desperation means that so much anger manifests itself in violence, robbing especially our children and women of their safety. My favourite poetry quote says “This is poetry as illumination, for it is through poetry that we give name to those ideas which – are until the poem – nameless and formless, about to be birthed, but already felt” – Audre Lorde. Pain can often take time to articulate and I believe that it is through poetry that we can give and reclaim language to identify the wounds that still need cleaning and caring for. Through extended the poetic form into more art forms, it can become increasing accessible and stir up conversation and instigate action from our most primal spaces – the depth of our bellies, the parts of us that insist we cannot be still in the face of pain and injustice.

U tkanju mog postojanja, nalazi se
bogata kultura koja um mi hrani.
Iz zemlje mojih predaka, tako očigledno,
moj identitet blista, neiskazan, sjajni.

Moja kultura, institucija što nosi
tradicije koje ne mogu poreći.
Od sjajnih festivala koji zavrte mi dušu,
do drevnih praksi koje me čine nepodijeljenim.

U taktu našeg tradicionalnog plesa,
preplavljen sam vječnim transom.
Bubnjevi, poput snažnog otkucaja srca,
odjekuju pred ponosnim promatračima dušom.

Kroz ukusne obroke naše kuhinje,
osjećam esenciju značenja porijekla.
Od mirisnih začina koje mi čita jezik,
do recepata koji se prenose od djetinjstva.

Jezik, put je koji nas sve povezuje,
kroz svaku se riječ priča odražava.
Pucaju emocije, priče neispričane,
moj identitet, u svojoj se klauzuli čuva.

Priča o herojima i legendama ponosa,
blago puno mudrosti, željno da se izgovori.
Kroz mitove i legende koje smo imali,
moja kultura, izvan mašte, tajnama žubori.

Odjeća je ukrašena simbolima,
nosimo svoje nasljeđe tako dostojanstveno, božanski.
Svaki komad tkani sa starim pričama,
ušiven simbolima samopouzdanja i hrabrosti.

Kultura i identitet, zauvijek su zagrljeni,
tapiserija raznih boja, istorija dobro čuvana.
Prihvatanje korijena, uživanje u prošlosti,
putovanje me oblikuje i priprema
da se suočim sa svijetom okićen ukrasima.

In the drapery of my existence, there exists
A rich culture that foster my mind.
From the land of my ancestors, so apparent,
My identity glows, radiant and untold.

My culture, an institution that
Carries traditions that I can’t deny.
From dazzling festivals that turn my soul,
To ancient practice that help me stay undivided.

In the tune of our traditional dance,
I feel overwhelmed to an everlasting trance.
The beats of the drums, like a heartbeat strong,
Echoing the spirits of proud beholders.

Through the taste of our savory cuisine,
I smell the essence of what my background mean.
From fragrant spices that read on my tongue,
To recipes passed through since we were young.

Language, the route that connects us all,
In every word, a story begins to sustain.
Cracking emotions, stories untold,
My identity, in its clausula, is behold.

The story of heroes and legends of pride,
A treasure full of wisdom, craving to be told.
Through the myths and legends that we had,
My culture whispers secrets, beyond imagination.

Attires adorned with signs and symbols,
We wear our heritage so dignified, divine.
Each piece woven with stories of old,

Abubakar Abdullahi Yusuf (Popularly known as Abu Ammar) was born in a family where education in it’s entirety, is less rooted or has not been graciously appreciated, to the glory of God almighty, he got enrolled in Public Schools for his Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education.

Ever since his childhood, his dream was to see him imparting on others educationally, so Abu Ammar grows up as a classroom teacher, he teaches Civic Education and Hausa Language.

As a graduate of Religious studies, Abu Ammar was able to swim in to the area of Literature and has done well throughout his journey in the area. His journey into Literature started in 2021 with a participation in Prose Competition where he emerged winner at the level of Northeastern States of Nigeria.

To his credit, are number of awards for Poetry and Prose from Global Poetry Forum, All Poets Network International and the famous Association of the Nigeria Authors.

After realizing the beauty of literature, he went ahead and established a literary organisation called Ngazargamu Literary Club basing in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe.

To his credit, is a manuscript titled “the soul Journey ”.

Intolerance and Lack of proper justice dispensation.

In Nigeria, our main problem of peace is either religious conflict or agitation for one or another issue that has relevant with justice dispensation from the leaders.

To me, the very possible way to preserve peace with Poetry is by establishing as much as many clubs and hubs that will bring in citizens into the mainland of Arts and Creativity.

Like I said above, we’ve succeeded in establishing our own club which is now serving as umbrella for all and sundry irrespective of religion, gender or race for one to express himself and have the therapy that’s in literature.

Apatsa PSALMz, real Samson Apatsa Banda is a 33 year old poet, currently working as a primary school teacher and also a fourth year student studying at Nkhoma University in the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe. My hobbies include writing, playing football and listening to all kinds of music. I have a twin brother who is also an artist and am also involved in music with Divine Muzik Team, a Christian rap group.

I think here we can talk of tribalism and political affiliations. With about 100 ethnic groups, Malawi tends to be divided over strongholds of political influence and nepotism. I believe the country needs to put in place more viable sensitization and civic education procedures to educate the masses on how we all can live together in harmony and ensure merit is the key to securing opportunities for jobs and education.

Pišem ovo iskreno pismo sa neopisivim nemirnim pulsiranjem u meni! Moje srce uvijek kuca zabrinutim sistolom i pesimističnom dijastolom. Svaka kvaka na Vama rasipa moje optimistične nade za tajanstvenim očajem. Kada sunce izlazi na zapadu, moje nade se bude iz sna sa idejama iz Pensilvanije i krstare prema Vama brzinom Vestona, očekujući da ćete se širom otvoriti za moj osmijeh.

Ali, ono što me dočeka je hladnije od ulica Santorinija u Grčkoj. Atmosfera koju prema meni širite puna je lavine odbacivanja. Ono što mi odražavate je neproziran kvadrat bez ikakvog signala, osim obližnjeg “nema prolaza”.

Odbili ste mi prijatelje koje sam želio u svom krugu. Umjesto toga, oni su u izolovanim sferama, zaključani u neostvarenim željama i ciljevima. Letter to the Closed Doors.

Dear Closed Door,

I write you this heartfelt letter with indescribable writhe pulsating in
me! My heart is always beating with querulous systole and a pessimistic
diastole. Every knob in you scattles away my optimistic hopes for mystic
forlorn. When the sun rises in the West, my hopes wakes up from its slumber
with Pennsylvania ideas and cruises towards you with a Weston speed
expecting you to open it wide for a winsome smile from me.

But what greets me is colder then the streets of Santorini Greece. The
atmosphere you exude towards me is full of an avalanche of rejection. Not
even a sign of summer beckons from your necklace and high security bead,
the padlock. Every edge of you appears like Armageddon. I have rich and
greener ideas than the tropics of Amazon, but you haven’t given me any
chance to even get close to your open rectangular vision. What you reflect
to me is an opaque quadrate with no signal but a bandage of “no through
way”.

You have denied me friends I wanted them to be part of my circle. Instead,
they are just in isolated spheres locked in unfulfilled wishes and targets.
Ostensibly, you have metered me away from a number of job opportunities. I
am now inching kilometres to miles just to try and make my ends meet even
if it is just for a few metres. I have wanted to go past you into the

Je suis un dramaturge qui écrit, en plus, les poèmes et les chansons.
Je passe mon temps à écrire, à chanter et à encadrer les femmes violées de Walungu, à travers mon organisation SHUT asbl, qui, malheureusement, manque des fonds jusqu’ici.
Avec mon orchestre SANS FRONTIERE MUSICA, nous essayons de sensibiliser les esprits contre la haine et la marginalisation en pronant la réconciliation dans les chansons.
Nous luttons avec l’ energie du désespoir contre le viol de la femme.

A travers les films documentaires, cités ci-bas, j’ ai eu l’occasion de montrer à la face du monde les tristes réalités de mon pays.

A tous les niveaux de la machine gouvernementale, ces deux fléaux empêchent la justice de fonctionner et favorisent l’impunité.
La compétence laisse la place à la famille et aux amitiés.
La corruption devient monnaie courante…

2..le pillages de nos ressources minières
Depuis l’époque de l’avant colonisation, le Congolais n’ a jamais goùté aux délices des minerals rares et chers dont regorge son sous sol.
Après avoir été la propriété privée de Leopold Ii, le Congo est devenu la colonisation de la Belgique jusqu’en 1960, année de notre indépendance. Ensuite, le néocolonialisme a pris place perpetré par des nationaux marionettes de nos pilleurs et tombeurs.

3. La recherche des terres à annexer par les pays voisins
Le Congo est un pays continent presque vite, à peine, à 1/4 habité tandis qu’il est entouré par des pays surpeuplés comme le Rwanda, le Burundi, l’ Ouganda…à la recherche des terres où mettre hommes et bétails.

Propositions
1. Nous avons un problème car nous n’élisons pas nos leaders. Ils sont designés et soutenus par l’occident. La democratie ici est un mot creux. Pour se garantir une longétivité au pouvoir, tout celui qui le detient fait recours à ses frères et soeurs, et à leurs amis pour s’assurer de ne pas beaucoup être dérangé par l’ opposition ou les mécontents . Aussi pour qu’ il puisse s’enrichir et commettre les crimes en toute impunité. Soixante dix pour cent des postes importants dans notre pays sont occupés par une tribu.
Il faut que les congolais aient le droit de se choisir l’Homme qu’il faut à la Place qu’il faut .

3. Pour le problème des terres, les gouvernements de la sous région doivent décider des Propositions qui favorisent le déplacement des biens et des personnes dans la région, et éventuellement la faisabilité d’ octroyer la nationalité d’un pays aux membres des autres, en imposant des règles strictes

2.. Que l’Occident qui a besoin de ces minérals permettent aux congolais, à travers le commerce de ces minerais, de s’épanouir et de se développer. Les prix ne doivent pas être imposés mais discutés.
