Israel is a country in West Asia, but it is also present in many European art competitions (sports, music). The country is known worldwide for religious unrest between Muslims and Jews. During World War II, Jews flee from the Nazis to Palestine, on British initiative, although the native Arabs oppose it. Jews have gained independence and Israel has been a recognized as state since 1948. By then, the whole area was called Palestine. Today, Palestine is made up of two regions: the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. And they are under constant bombardment by the Israeli military. Everything else was appropriated to Israel. Today, Israel is considered the first and only Jewish state. The official language is Hebrew, but Arabic is also recognized. There are about 74% Jews and 18% Muslims in the country. It has a population of about 9 million, unlike Palestine, which has a population of about 5 million, mainly Arabs. Both countries consider Jerusalem their capital. The eastern part belongs to Palestine and the western part to Israel. Yet, the Israelites increasingly mention Tel Aviv as their the main city. Israel is one of the developed countries of the world and is governed by liberal democracy.
Izrael je država u zapadnoj Aziji, ali je i u mnogim evropskim takmičenjima u umjetnosti prisutan (sport, muzika). Država je u svijetu poznata po religijskim nemirima između muslimana i jevreja. U toku Drugog svjetskog rata, Jevreji od nacista bježe na teritorij Palestine, po britanskoj inicijativi, iako se domaći Arapi protive tome. Jevreji stiču nezavisnost i Izrael je priznata država od 1948. godine. Do tada, cijela oblast se zvala Palestina. Danas Palestinu čine dvije regije: Zapadna Obala i Pojas Gaze.
