Paučina predaka POEM TITLE

Osmijeh
sada je samo na fotografijama
naših djedova i baka.
Bili su tlo
na kojem smo se igrali.
Rasli smo kraj njih;
vreće s pijeskom i ljuljaške
u našem dvorištu
postavili su djedovi i bake.
Bili smo djetinjasti
u tim svitanjima
kad su nas djedovi i bake učili
dječjim lekcijama
o ispisivanju imena na pijesku,
i kako bi to voda okeana
odnosila kako smo rasli.
Stari djedov sat
pokazuje prave prstenove vremena
dok kuca i kuca.
Vijenac u našim rukama
čeka da okiti fotografije
naših djedova i baka.
Paučina predaka
ne obvezuje nas da zaboravimo
nešto dragocjeno iz djetinjstva
koje još nije prošlo.

ANCESTRAL COBWEB (POEM TITLE ENGLISH)

The smile
Only on photographs now
Of our grandparents.
They were our grounds
Where we played.
We grew with them,
The sandbags and swings
On our yard,
Fixed by grandparents.
We were childish in
The days of dawn
When our grandparents
Taught us childhood lessons
Of inking our name on the sand,
Where the shore of the ocean,
Would take it away as we grew older.
There was contentment
In our childhood days.
The wrinkles on our grandparents’ skin
Never taught us to not play
With our youthful complexion.
We do not forget our grandparents.
The modernity has its nostalgia
But its past is not forsaken.
We call it history,
It is the time that never gets old.
An old grandfather clock
Showing true rings of time
Ticks and ticks.
The garland on our hand,
Waits to adorn the photographs
Of our grandparents,
The ancestral cobweb,
Does not bind us to forget
Something precious from the childhood era
Still not bygone.

Something special about you!
My name is Sushant Thapa. I live in Biratnagar-13, Nepal and teach Business English and Business Communication to undergraduate-level students. I have an M.A. in English literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. I have published five book of English Poems. I was so interested in Humanities as a subject and faculty that I left studying science, and did my high school in Humanities. I would not have become a poet had I not dropped science which I was doing for one year.
What do you think is the main problem of peace in your country? Suggest solutions to us, and how to bring and preserve peace in your country with poetry?
Conflict-less country would be peaceful. Poetry can raise collective consciousness which can be done by delivering the right message to the people of the country. The young manpower of muscle and intellect should not leave the country; this is one of the solutions for maintaining peace in the long run, because young minds and intellect can take the country to a fruitful path.
